What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness gives you time. Time gives you choices. Choices, skillfully made, lead to freedom. You don’t have to be swept away by your feelings. You can respond with wisdom and kindness rather than habit and reactivity (Bhante Henepola Gunaratana)

Mindfulness

  • The basic human ability to fully present
  • Stepping out of autopilot and reconnecting with our inner resources.
  • Observing life as it is happening and accepting the current situation without judgment or struggle.
  • Acknowledging your feelings without letting them drive your actions.
  • Noticing your thoughts as they arise without the need to buy into them.
  • Observing how your thoughts, feelings, and emotions rise and fall like waves on the sea.
  • And in the calm spaces in between, lie moments of piercing insight.
  • The shift from the constant ‘doing mode’ to the “being mode” – where you stop trying to fix everything.
  • Settling the heart and finding your peace within the suffering and your daily stressors.
  • A way to waking up to the world, and waking up to the fullness of human experience.
  • Cultivated through formal and informal meditation practices
  • Cultivating deep compassion towards yourself and others and in this space healing can occur
  • Teaches you to skillfully handle your stressors and anxiety.
  • You learn to take better care of yourself.
