The Breath is A Language

Every psychological, emotional and physiological state has a corresponding breathing pattern. When our state changes our breathing patterns change too. And vice-versa: by changing our breathing patterns, we can change our state.

Poor Breathing Habits

Poor breathing habits are an underlying cause of many health and emotional problems.

When we experience pain, fear, trauma or stress (be it physical, emotional or chemical stress) we unconsciously clutch or hold the breath to suppress or avoid the discomfort.

This results in holding patterns within the body, causing breathing blockages and sub-optimal breathing which create physical, emotional, mental and spiritual dis-ease and imbalances in our system.

Conscious And Unconscious Breathing

Our breathing system is the only system in the body that is both voluntary and automatic, both conscious and unconscious.

When used consciously, it can alter the chemical and physiological make-up of a person.

Research has shown that the use of breathing techniques can alter our unconscious defence or escape behaviours including addictions and unhealthy coping mechanisms.

It can also alter the body’s internal pH-levels from acidic to alkaline helping to prevent and heal disease and inflammation.
